Dr. Faouzi Nassif Maalouli, 81, of Worcester formerly of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 6, 2010. He leaves his wife of forty-seven years, Souad (Hanna) Maalouli. Dr. Maalouli is also survived by his son, Dr. Nassif Faouzi Maalouli and his wife Patricia of Worcester; three daughters, Andree Maalouli of Worcester, Marlene Houssan and her husband Michael of Millbury and Clara El Nemr and her husband Ziad of Worcester; five grandchildren, Teah and Yara Maalouli, Joseph and Michael Houssan and Anthony El Nemr. He was born in Rachaya, Lebanon, son of Nassif and Mariam Maalouli. For many years he travelled between Lebanon and the United States before settling here in 2007. He was educated as a child in Lebanon. He then went to school in France where he attained the highest level of doctoral education in that country, graduating from Montpellier Medical School in Montpellier France; he later served his fellowship at McGill University in Montreal. Dr. Maalouli was an infectious disease specialist and served as Lebanon's Minister of Public Health for thirty-nine years. Dr. Maalouli was a member of Saint George Orthodox Cathedral and was a devoted and loving family man. Calling hours for Dr. Maalouli will be held on Tuesday, August 10, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, August 11, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester. His Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning in The Cathedral. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
