Michael A. "Fudgie" Fulginiti, 61, of Boston's North End, a talented actor and painter, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, in Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael is survived by his wife, Sheila (Demers) Fulginiti; his daughter, Aurelia Carol Fulginiti; three step sons, Paul Orsi, Marc Orsi and Carlo Orsi; two brothers, Anthony M. Fulginiti, Jr. and Frank Fulginiti both of Worcester; two nieces, Rachael Fulginiti and Sarah Fulginiti; a nephew Jeffrey Fulginiti; as well as several grandchildren. Michael was born in Worcester, son of Anthony M. and Celia (Amelin) Fulginiti, and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. Michael will be remembered for his friendliness, politeness, his serious approach to his work and his ability to not allow life or work to become too serious that he couldn't appreciate the humor in life or the importance of family. Michael had friends that ranged from fellow artisans, theatre folk, friends from his old Shrewsbury Street neighborhood in Worcester and his new friends in his beloved North End; they will be left with precious life long memories. He was a long time friend of Bill W. Michael was a working actor, whose stage name was Michael Balcanoff. He appeared in many performances, not only on stage, but on film and on television as well. His work had taken him to New York, where he performed at the 92nd Street Y, Joyce Theatre and American Place Theatre. He appears in several films, most recently "What Doesn't Kill You". He performed in many regional theatres in Massachusetts including, The American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Foothills Theatre in Worcester, The Gloucester Stage Company, Merrimack Repertory Theatre and the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre, to name just a few. Calling hours for Michael will be held tonight, Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 13, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester.
