Carol A. (Smith) Lopriore

Carol A. (Smith) Lopriore, 75, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Thursday, August 05, 2010 after a long and courageous struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Alfredo Lopriore; a daughter, Cheryl D. Lopriore of Shrewsbury, MA and her husband Thomas Alarie; six sons, Alan Lopriore and his wife Cheryl A., Glen Lopriore and his wife Kristin of Leicester, MA; Gary Lopriore of Eastham, MA; Wayne Lopriore and his wife Laura, Tod Lopriore and his finance' Sandra Chamberlain and Perry Lopriore and his wife Dorothy of Shrewsbury, MA. She blessed the lives of her fifteen grandchildren, Nathan, Christina, Kyle, Marissa, Nicole, Katelyn, Justin, Zachary, Michael, David, Olivia, Dominic, Mary, Kristopher and Rachel; and two great grandchildren, Logan and Ivy. Carol was born in Northbridge, MA, the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Sprague) Smith. She is survived by three siblings and was predeceased by eight. Carol will be greatly missed for her unending generosity to all that knew her and her independent spirit. Children brought a great joy to Carol and she spent her life lovingly raising her large family. She enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens, weekend shopping excursions, "going south": to have some fun at Foxwoods and hosting elaborate holiday gatherings for her family, where her delicious and abundant cooking was enjoyed by all. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at UMass Hospital as a supervisor and diet technician and also worked for the State of Massachusetts in record management. The family wishes to thank UMass Memorial Hospice for their support over the past year, with special thanks to Betty Mensah for the loving care she gave to Carol. In accordance to Carol's wishes, there will be no calling hours and the burial will be private.
