Patsy J. "Bucko" Tomaiolo, 89, of Worcester a retired Worcester Firefighter died peacefully Sunday August 1, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of sixty two years Frances (DeSimone) Tomaiolo, two sons; John Tomaiolo and his wife Paula of Grafton, Ralph Tomaiolo and his wife Patty of Shrewsbury, a daughter Patricia "Patti" Pezzella and her husband Dr, Stephen Pezzella of Shrewsbury, seven grandchildren; Dr Andrea Pezzella and her husband Dr. Vince Vismara, Kristen, Lisa, Matthew, Tia, James, and Anthony Tomaiolo, and two great grandchildren Isabella and Luke Vismara, a brother Peter Tomaiolo and his wife Mary of Worcester, and many nephews and nieces, A brother Frank Tomaiolo,and two sisters Louise Stranieri and Rose "Barney" Vescera all predeceased him. Patsy was born in Worcester son of the late Raffaele and Maria (Marzano) Tomaiolo and lived here all his life . He was a graduate of Worcester Boy s Trade School,and was a Navy Veteran of WW11. Patsy was a Firefighter for the Worcester Fire Department for thirty four years before he retired. He was stationed at the Eastern Ave Fire Station for many years. He also worked for the former Christie and Thompson Auto Parts Store for twenty five years. Patsy was a life member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, and it s Holy Name Society, The East Side Post #201 American Legion, The East Side Improvement Club, and the Worcester Police and Firefighters Retirement Association, and the Greendale Retired Business Mens Club, also the Froshinn Club where he enjoyed their Saturday night dances. While at Boys Trade School he was the Captain of the All City Champion Baseball team and also played Semi Pro Baseball for the Villanova Club that went to the National Champions in 1947 in Wichita, Kansas. He loved to watch sports and was an excellent tennis and basketball player. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family. He will be dearly missed. Patsy's funeral will be held Wednesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Wednesday morning only from 9 :00AM to 10:30AM prior to leaving for church. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
