Chahine M. Kassis, 74, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010 in UMass Hospital. He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Juliette C. (Abou-Arraj) Kassis; two sons, Michel C. Kassis and Andre C. Kassis and his wife Josiane; three daughters, Norma C. Mendilian and her husband Serge, Micheline C. Forget and her husband Steven, and Dr. Nadine C. Kassis, MD all of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Nicholas Kassis of Ottawa, Canada and Andrew Kassis of Los Angles; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Christopher Forget, Gabriel and Michael Mendilian and Anthony Kassis; as well as many loving nieces and nephews and extended family. Chahine was predeceased by a brother, George Kassis. Chahine was born in Aita El-Fokhar, Lebanon, son of the late Mikhael and Nora (Ansara) Kassis, and lived there most of his life, before moving here in 1983. He worked as a mechanical engineer with Middle East Airlines for thirty-six years, retiring in 1987. He was an active member of Saint George Orthodox Cathedral and had been a member of the Worcester Lodge of Masons. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, who found that family was most important to him. Calling hours for Chahine will be held Today, Wednesday, July 21 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday, July 22 from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester. His Funeral Service will be held tomorrow, Thursday, July 22 at 11 a.m. in The Cathedral.
