Joseph B. Cronin, 73, of Largo, Florida formerly of Worcester passed away Saturday, July 10th 2010, in Florida with his wife by his side. Joe was born July 18th 1936, in Worcester a son of Michael and Julia (O'Connor) Cronin. He grew up, worked and lived in Worcester before moving to Largo more than 13 years ago. Joe is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mary K. (Griffin) Cronin; three sons, Joseph M. Cronin of Boston, John and Daniel Cronin both of Worcester; a brother, Robert D. Cronin of Worcester; two sisters, Catherine T. Callan of Maine and Mary J. Cutting of Webster; two grandchildren, Joseph Cronin, Jr. and Stephanie Cronin; Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Three brothers, John, Michael and Thomas Cronin pre deceased him. Joe worked as a union Ironworker over 35 years on many construction projects in the area, including several years on the Seabrook Nuclear Power plant before retiring from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Joe was a member of the Ironworkers union local 57. A simple, quite family man who enjoyed just being with family and friends. The funeral will be held Monday, July 19th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 35 Fales St. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:30am to 10:30am in the funeral home.
