She is survived by seven children: Fred and his wife Peggy of Glenmont, NY, Catherine Parretti of Sterling, Theodore of East Dennis, Robert and his wife Jane of Auburn, John and his wife Paula of Dennis, Marian and her husband Anthony Tedeschi of Limerick, ME and Edward of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren: Tom Budzyna, Susan Klein, John Budzyna, Stephen Parretti, Loraine Crete, John Parretti, Dina Parretti and Robert Budzyna; ten great grandchildren: Stephanie, Kimberly, Shane and Anthony Parretti, Jillian Crete, Ben Klein, Colin, Erin and Maggie Budzyna, Jessica Sullivan and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her dear friend and devoted caregiver Beth Sannella. Her husband, Theodore Budzyna predeceased her in 2004. Ruth was born on September 28, 1914, in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of Edward and Marian (Haley) Catrell. She spent her school-age years in Boston and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1932. Soon after, she moved to Worcester where she raised her children and worked at Denholm & McKay and Chicago Dressed Beef. Later she worked as a Senior Clerk at the Administration Building of the Worcester Public Schools where she remained for several years until her retirement. Ruth was happiest with her children and grandchildren, always encouraging them with her enthusiasm for life. She was a constant inspiration to everyone that knew her and will be truly missed. She was an avid reader all her life and travelled extensively with her children in the US and Europe. She possessed an insatiable thirst for knowledge and interest in almost everything - from the Boston Celtics to William Shakespeare. She returned to school long after her children were grown and graduated from Clark University in 1983, only a few months short of being 69 years young. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Beaumont Nursing facility for the care given to Ruth during her stay there. They are especially grateful for the team from Salmon Hospice Care for their compassion in helping Ruth and her family. A private funeral service was held at Mercadante Funeral Home. The Rev. Walter Tilleman officiated. Burial followed in the Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury, MA. Memorial donations may be sent in Ruth's memory to either Friendly House Neighborhood Center, 36 Wall Street, Worcester, MA 01604 or Salmon Hospice Care, 42 Beaumont Drive, Northbridge, MA 01534.
