Anna "Auntie" D. (Palermo) Cipro, 88, of Worcester, passed away quietly in her home, Saturday, July 10, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband, Henry S. Cipro, with whom she would have celebrated sixty five years of marriage in November; her brother, Marino Palermo of Worcester; a niece Emelia (Palermo) Tomaiolo and her husband Leonard Tomaiolo of Shrewsbury; two nephews, George Palermo and his wife Sally Ann of North Grafton and Frank Palermo and his wife Annmarie of Worcester; Jane Palermo wife of the late Vincent Palermo,four grand nieces; five grand nephews and three great grand nieces. She also leaves many nephews and nieces of the Cipro family. A brother, Vincent C. Palermo and a nephew Vincent Palermo predecease her. Born in Worcester, daughter of the late George and Emelia (DeMango) Palermo, she graduated from Commerce High School in 1941. Anna was the co- owner of Saveway Market on Burncoat Street for 26 years and retiring in 1979 as a cashier. She also worked for twelve years for Worcester Molder Plastics. After her retirement she volunteered for Memorial Hospital for 15 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel - St. Ann Church. Anna was a member of the Golden Years club of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel - St. Ann Church, and the American Legion Auxiliary East Side Post 201 and Froshinn Club. She was an ardent bowler as well as an ardent Ballroom and Square dancer. Anna's funeral will be held Wednesday, July 14th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, with a Mass at 12:30 PM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel - St. Ann Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours, in the funeral home, will be from 10:30 AM until 12 noon prior to her funeral.
