George Kanaan, 18, of Worcester, a gentile, loving, and simple young man who was full of life and loved by everyone, passed away Monday, July 5th 2010 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital, surrounded by his lovng family. George was born, February 3, 1992, in Worcester. He is survived by his cherished family; his parents, William E. and Hanne (Rizkalla) Kanaan; a brother, Elias Kanaan and two sisters, Rosemarie and Myrna Kanaan; grandparents who loved him dearly, Mary (Ansara) Rizkalla of Worcester and Elias and Rosa (Hanna) Kanaan in Lebanon; a niece, Lilianna Kanaan; many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends both in Worcester and Lebanon. He was a sophomore at North High School, worked part time for the CVS on Grafton St /Rice Square store and has lived here all his life. George was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral. He participated in the Massachusetts Special Olympics, sang in the North High School Chorus and enjoyed dancing, singing and playing video games. Friends are invited to visit with the family Thursday July 8th from 5 pm to 8 pm and Friday, July 9th from 10 am to 10:45 am in St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday July 9th in the Church. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. or to Special Olympics, 898 Prospect Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
