Yolanda R (Lepore) D'Elia , 101, passed away peacefully in her home on June 14th. She was predeceased by her husband Frank C. D'Elia, Sr. She leaves her daughter, Dolores Penny, who took loving care of her, allowing her to remain in her home; three sons, Frank D'Elia Jr. and Richard R. D'Elia Sr. and his wife Nancy all of Shrewsbury and Robert V. D'Elia and his wife Patty of Hartville, OH). She is also survived by her brother, Emilio "Babe" John Lepore and his wife Doris of Florida; two sisters in law: Anita Lepore of Arlington, Ma. and Lena D'Elia of Worcester; 11 grandchildren: Andrea ( D'Elia ) McGowan of Lighthouse Point, Fl., Elaine Ann D'Elia of Shrewsbury, Paul D'Elia of Charlton, Richard and Anthony Penny of Worcester, Lisa ( D'Elia ) Danielson of Shrewsbury, Rich D'Elia of Sturbridge, Richelle (D'Elia) Beaudette and Lori D'Elia of Nantucket, Ma., Tiffany ( D'Elia ) Wood of Orlando, Fl., Tom D'Elia of San Diego, Ca. and Raymond R D'Elia of Hartville, Oh. She also leaves several great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Yolanda was born in Bennevento, Italy. She was one of five children born to Pasquale & Angelina ( Rossi ) Lepore. Yolanda was predeceased by her sister, Vencenza Toscano & husband Joseph; brothers Albert Lepore & wife Ann (Bellomo), Arnold " Hennie" Lepore & wife Ann (Palermo), and Victor Lepore. Also, daughter- in -law Anna (Lekas) D'Elia. Yolanda was educated in the Worcester public school system and learned the importance of education and a strong work ethic. She worked at an early age not only to help at home but to also support her brothers efforts while they attended Holy Cross and Boston College. During her marriage she worked at Memorial Hospital and retired in 1965. She continued to work part time in several rest homes in Worcester and volunteered her services to many local charities. Final retirement came in 1981 at age 72. Yolanda was a member of Our Lady Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed monthly trips to Foxwood with church friends and family members. For her 100th birthday she was given a surprised limo trip to Foxwood and presented the key to the city of Worcester as well as a Presidential Certificate for her ninetieth and hundredth birthdays. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family, on Wednesday, June 16, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, Ma. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, June 17 from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church Renovation Fund, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
