Bruce W. Erickson, Sr., 61, of Jefferson, formerly of Hawthorne Estates in Rutland, passed away Friday, June 11th 2010 in his home with family at his side. Bruce's wife Mary Ann (Addison) Erickson passed away in 1998. Bruce is survived by his children, Bruce W. Erickson, Jr and Robert E. Erickson both of Worcester, and Selena Alger of Milford, NH; three sisters, Charlotte Senay and her husband George of Kissimmee, Fl, Shirley Burdick and her husband Robert with whom he lived and Ellen Landry and her husband Paul of Worcester; a brother, David Erickson and his wife Joyce of Scotts, Michigan; a cherished grandson, Dylan Alger; many nieces, nephews and friends. Two brothers, John and George Erickson pre deceased him. Bruce was born in Worcester, the son of Hjalmar W. and Adeline M. Erickson. He joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. Sergeant Bruce received his Honorable Discharge after his faithful performance of duty. He grew up in Worcester, lived many years in Leicester and three years in Rutland before moving to Jefferson. Bruce worked as a Slate Roofer, many years for Barnard Roofing Company. He was an avid NASCAR Racing fan and enjoyed his time fishing. The family would like to thank the special hospice team that cared for Bruce, during his brief struggle with aggressive cancer. Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 17th at 12:30 p.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton (section Heritage II). There are no calling hours.
