Walter "Bud" Curran, 74, of Holden, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 27th 2010 in Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. Walter was born in Worcester, September 18, 1935 a son of Walter and Margaret G. (Dee) Curran. He graduated from Commerce High School, met and married his devoted wife and partner of 42 years, Annette (Porro) Curran. Together they raised their family for 35 years in Shrewsbury before moving to Holden. Bud is survived by his dedicated and beloved family; His wife Annette (Porro) Curran; a son David W. Curran, his wife Jean and their son Kevin; a daughter, Luann M. Laramee, her husband Chris and their children Sam, Ella, and Mac all of Holden; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Besides Walter's parents, a brother, Richard D. Curran and two sisters, Margaret "Peg" and Carol Curran all pre deceased him. Bud worked more than 40 years for Linder's Inc. on Granite St in Worcester before retiring. He was a member of St Anne Church in Shrewsbury and a communicant of St. Mary's in Holden. He was an avid bowler and member of the Auto Recycler's Bowling League. Bud was a dedicated and enthusiastic sports fan of both Holy Cross College sports, and the Boston Red Sox. He was so much so a fan, that he even made several trips with the team to away games in support. Walter and Annete also owned and spent 30 summers in Dennisport on the Cape, enjoying many nights watching baseball's Summer Cape Cod League. He was a simple dedicated man to his family and friends. The betterment of his family, his wife, children and grandchildren were most important to him. He cherished them and being with them. Bud's presence could light up a room and he could make a friend with anyone. He will be missed by all who knew him. Bud's funeral will be held Tuesday, June 1st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, Memorial Day from 5 pm to 8 pm and Tuesday June 1st from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in the funeral home.
