Carlo A. Baldino, 94, of Auburn died peacefully Thursday May 27, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 66 years, Fede M. (Cornacchioli), died in 2008. Carlo is survived by two sons: Carlo M. Baldino and his wife Joyce McNickles of Sutton, and William P. Baldino and his wife Maureen of Auburn, two grandsons, Michael Baldino of Boston and Anthony Baldino of Hollywood, CA; a sister Carrie DePari of Worcester and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. He was predeceased by four sisters: Phyllis Pacheco, Mary Simone, Grace Caprioli and Angie David, and two brothers Frank and Maurice Baldino. Carlo was born in Worcester, son of the late Domenic and Aurelia (Amoruso) Baldino, and lived in Worcester most of his life before moving to Auburn. He was a 1936 graduate of Commerce High School. Carlo was a machinist for the former Reed Rolled Thread Die Company of Holden for over thirty years before he retired. He was a member of the former St. Margaret Mary Church. He was a long time member of the Men's Biscegliese Society and its Biscee Club, the Pope John Council XXIII Knights of Columbus, and the Greendale Retired Men's Club. A semi-professional baseball player in his youth, he was an avid golfer and bowler, and he made frequent visits to the Greendale YMCA where he enjoyed swimming and working out. He loved being with his family and he will be dearly missed. Carlo's funeral will be held Wednesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in St. Joseph Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 5-8PM on Tuesday.
