Janice M Canty

Janice M. (Coupe) Canty, 74, of Worcester a devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9th surrounded by her family after a long, courageous struggle with cancer. Janice was born in Holyoke, February 18th 1936, a daughter of Alfred and Erna (Hohenberger) Coupe and has lived here most of her life. Janice is survived by her cherished children, John A. Canty of Leicester, Nancy L. Buck and her husband Peter of Rutland, Carolyn Kachadoorian and her husband Daniel of Leicester, Cathy C. Cocaine and her husband David of Millbury, Michael S. Canty of Worcester and Sandra L. Mulhern both of Worcester. She is also survived by eleven adored grandchildren, Joshua and Ethan Buck, Brooke, Justin and Bridget Kachadoorian, Nicholas and Andrew Cocaine, Shaylagh and Raeghan Canty, Nicole and Lindsay Mulhern; extended family and friends. Two brothers, John and George Coupe, a daughter-in-law Linda Canty and Janice's best friend Cindy Berthiaume all pre-deceased her. Janice worked many years as a Certified Nurse Assistant for the Notre Dame Extended Care facility before retiring due to illness. It was her passion to lovingly and respectfully provide care for her patients. Janice most enjoyed spending time in the company of her children and grandchildren. They were her inspiration. She loved animals and was an avid advocate for them. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Piperdi and his loving, caring staff at UMass Memorial Hospital University Campus Cancer Center. Funeral services and burial in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton will be held privately. No calling hours will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mass. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 350 South Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plains, MA 02130.
