Robert P. "Baccala" Giannette, 69 of Worcester passed away Tuesday, May 4th 2010 in Saint Vincent's Hospital after a brief illness. Bob was born December 15, 1940, in Worcester, a son of Ralph and Palmina (Cancelmo) Giannette. He graduated from Worcester Public Schools, joined the U.S. Army to serve his country and National Guard for 20 years. He then lived and worked in Worcester. Bob worked for Montrose Cable & Wire Company in Auburn before moving to Florida and working as Head custodian for East Bay High School in Florida. He lived in Sun City Florida for many years, returning back here in 2008. Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Virginia "Ginny" (Pierce) Giannette; a son, Robert "Zakk" Giannette and his wife Karen of Millbury; Daughter, Tracey M. Giannette of Worcester; his mother, Palmina (Cancelmo) Giannette; five cherished grandchildren, Belle Marie, Krystal, Joshua, Mindy, and Giannna; five brothers, John "Pops" Giannette of Worcester; Joseph and Ralph "Duti" Giannette Jr. both of Las Vegas; Richard "Chooch" and Frank Giannette(deceased) ; two sisters, Rosemarie Fitzgerald and Marion Giannette both of Worcester; his side kick and best friend Gilligan; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church and the Sun City Florida Lodge Order Sons of Italy. He was a former member of the Lions club. Bob could easily be noticed traveling up and down Shrewsbury St in his scooter with his dog and best friend Gilligan alongside. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Monday, May 10th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be celebrated Tuesday from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 am in St. Brigids Church, 59 Main St. Millbury. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
