Robert J. McNamara, Jr. 69 of Shrewsbury passed away Saturday, May 1st 2010 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital. Robert's wife of 19 years Evelyn. (Johnson) McNamara passed away in 1999. He is survived by a son, Michael McNamara, Sr. and his wife Julie of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Cynthia McNamara in Florida and Kelly Cipro of Shrewsbury; a step son Michael F. Kujawski and his wife Melanie of Webster; one brother, Raymond P. McNamara and his wife Paula of Wakefield R.I.; three grandchildren, Michael McNamara, Jr., Colin and Shawn; neices, nephews and friends. Robert's former wife, Jane Allen passed away in 1995. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Robert J. McNamara, Sr. and Beatrice D. (Viger) McNamara. He grew up in Worcester, served his country for three years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He lived many years in Webster before moving to Shrewsbury over 29 years ago. Robert worked as a machinist for the Lutco Bearing Company more than 20 years before retiring. He previously worked for the Jamesbury Corporation. Robert was a member of St Anne's Church. A member and former secretary of the Lithuanian Social Club and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. A former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the PNA Drum and Bugle Corps. Robert enjoyed fishing and the outdoors along Lake Quinsigamond. The funeral will be held Thursday, May 6th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:30 am in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Wednesday May 5th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
