Rose M. (Gerardi) Lanava, 93, of Worcester and Greenwich CT. died peacefully in the Greenwich Hospital Saturday April 24, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband Angelo Lanava died in 1979. Rose is survived by her children; a son Dr. Thomas Lanava of North Carolina, a daughter Deborah Metter and her husband Michael of Greenwich CT. four grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Robert, and James, and four great grandchildren. Two brothers Peter Gerardi and his wife Lucy, of Shrewsbury, and Leonard Gerardi and his wife Marilyn of Mattapoisett, one sister Helen Gremo of Shrewsbury, her long time companion Clifford Lavigne,and sister in laws; Sylvia Gerardi, Mary Gerardi, Jennie Gerardi,and many loving nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by four brothers, Christopher "Chris" Gerardi, William "Willow" Gerardi, Trosiad "Tro" Gerardi, and Roland "Tex" Gerardi, and a sister Florence Dunkerly. Rose was born in Worcester daughter of the late Nunziato and Antoinette (Paldino) Gerardi and lived in Worcester all her life before moving to Greenwich several years ago. She was a graduate of Commerce High School class of 1935. Rose was an Administrative Assistant for the Worcester Redevelopment Authority for over 30 years before she retired. She was a life member of Our Lady of Loreto Church and it's Womens Guild, The Mt. Carmel Golden Years Club, and the Beat'o Angelo Womens Society. Rose was a very social person she enjoyed being around people and loved to dance. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Rose's funeral will be held Wednesday April 28 ,from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady Of Loreto Church 37 Massasoit Rd. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 5PM to 8PM on Tuesday. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge St. Worcester, MA.
