Ralph Giangrande, Jr., 65, of Auburn, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010 in UMass Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Patty (O'Leary) Giangrande; a son, Michael Alex Giangrande; a daughter, Jessica Irene Giangrande; his mother, Phyllis (LeClaire) McAuliffe; a brother, Gary McAuliffe and his wife Carol of Oahu, Hawaii; a sister, Gail McAuliffe of Worcester; his pugs, Amber, Max and Roxy; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Giangrande Sr in 1946 and just recently by his second Dad, Lawrence McAuliffe. Ralph was born in Worcester and graduated from North High School and Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. He then served his nation proudly in the United States Navy. Ralph was an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 96, for forty years, before retiring in 2007. He was a member of Saint John's Church and the Eastside Improvement Club. He enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with his family and friends; he loved watching and feeding birds. He could fix or repair anything. Ralph was well known for his many jokes that were considered "Ralphisms". Calling hours will be held Monday, April 26, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John's Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.
