Arshaloose "Arshie" Surabian, 90, of Worcester passed away peacefully Saturday, April 17th 2010 in her home with her cherished sisters by her side. Arshaloose, also known as "Arshie" or "Ruth" was born in Bagdad, Iraq, July 18, 1919, she was the oldest daughter of Karekin and Zaroohi (Balian) Surabian. Ruth came to Worcester as a infant , graduated from Worcester Girls Trade and has lived here all her life. Arshie is survived by her two devoted and beloved sisters, H. Agnes and Siramoosh "Dorothy" Surabian both with whom she lived; many cousins, extended family and friends who cared for Ruth and her sisters. Arshie worked more many years as an assembler for the Neles-Jamesbury Corporation before retiring. She previously worked 10 years for the U.S. Envelope Corporation. She was a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Our Savior, its Mass Committee and women's club. She loved to cook, bake and especially loved her garden, which earned an award for its beauty from Paul Rogers. The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 21st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. with a Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Armenian Church of Our Savior, 87 Salisbury St. Burial will follow next to her parents in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Tuesday, April 20th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. A Dahngark Service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday during calling hours in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Umass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St. Worcester or the Armenian Church of Our Savoir, 87 Salisbury St.
