Frank J. Biscardi Sr., "Mr. B", former English teacher, 87, of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, in the Jewish Health Care Center. Frank is survived by his wife and partner of 31 years, Carolyn (Zalinsky) Biscardi; his devoted sons, Frank J. Biscardi of Gloucester and Nicholas Biscardi and his wife Nancy of Holden; a stepson, James J. Quinn III and his wife Mara of Worcester and a stepdaughter, Kimberly M. Amidon and her husband William of Barre; five grandchildren, Dominic, Nicholas, William, James and Crystal; three great grandchildren; a brother Joseph Biscardi of Worcester and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A brother, Rev. Pasquale Biscardi, predeceased him. Mr. Biscardi was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Maria (Caramiello) Biscardi. Frank was a Worcester Public School teacher for 33 years. He taught at Woodland Street School, Burncoat Jr. High, Harrington Way Jr. High and North High School. He graduated from North High School and received his Bachelors of Arts from Worcester State College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II, aboard the Battleship U.S.S Charger. During his service time, Frank earned the World War II Victory Medal. He was member of the American Legion Post # 435, a life time member of the Y.M.C.A and the Worcester Teachers Association. He was also a faithful parishioner of Christ the King Church. Frank was an avid walker and jogger and could be seen over the years throughout Worcester and Cape Cod, exercising and enjoying his many, many friends. Mr. B took great joy in both his teaching of children and his work with the youth at Big Brother, Big Sister. Frank's funeral will be held Monday, April 19th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 18th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
