Michael L. "Budda" Lewis

Michael L. "Budda" Lewis, 56 of Shrewsbury passed away Wednesday April 7th 2010 surrounded by his cherished family. Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Barbara H. (Pezzella) Lewis; his two beloved children Jesse J. Lewis of Shrewsbury and Alicia M. Lewis of Worcester; two brothers, David Lewis in North Stonington, Connecticut and Paul Lewis in Westerly RI; two sisters, Susan White of North Stonington, CT and Linda in RI: nieces, nephews and many friends who will miss him dearly. Michael was born in Westerly RI a son of Alfred and Theresa (Alexander) Lewis. He graduated from Wheeler High School in CT. and has lived in Shrewsbury more than 25 years. Michael worked as a welder 25 years for the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 4. He previously worked for the Electric Boat Company building submarines in New London CT. Mike was a devoted Yankees and Giants fan. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Worcester. Mike's outgoing personality and generous spirit touched many hearts. Even in the darkest hours of his illness, his smile illuminated the room. Mike faced his death with unwavering courage. Godspeed, beloved Mike! Rest in peace. The funeral will be held Saturday, April 17th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, April 16th from 4 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
