Mary L. (Clemente) Consiglio,88, formerly of Glen Terrace , Shrewsbury, died peacefully Saturday April 10, 2010 in the Notre Dame Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 58 years John J. Consiglio died in 2004. Mary is survived by a daughter Paula M. Murphy and her husband James of Hubbardston, a son John D. Consiglio and his wife Karen of Colchester CT. four grandchildren; Andrea Maestas and her husband Tomas, Rachel Carey and her husband Patrick., and Christopher and Jason Consiglio, and many loving and devoted nieces and nephews, especially her devoted niece Lorna Pezanelli, and a special sister in law Dorothy Consiglio who gave so much of their time to Mary's well being. She was predeceased by two brothers, Peter and Paul Clemente, and five sisters, Mary Lorito, Jennie Montiverdi Burns, Libra "Lillian" Manganello, Carolyn Pezanelli, and Lucia "Lucy" Moosa who died in the Coconut Grove fire along with her husband John. Mary was born in Worcester daughter of the late Matteo and Raffaella (Tomaiolo) Clemente and has lived in Shrewsbury since 1957. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, and the Salter Secretarial School, and attended Quinsigamond Communiy College. Mary worked as a secretary for American Steel & Wire for many years, and also part time for the Shrewsbury Police Department and retired from the Belmont Home in 1985. Mary was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #201, and D.A.V. Mary was a volunteer at the UMASS Medical Center gift shop, and also did volunteer work for the VNA Hospice Care office. Mary loved to travel to Europe with her husband, and enjoyed reading, cooking, and having wonderful get togethers with her family. Mary's family would like to express their thanks to the devoted and very professional staff at the Notre Dame Du Lac Assisted Living and Long Term Care Facilities for their Kindness, caring, and generosity extended to Mary and her family. A celebration of Mary's Life will be held Saturday April 17, 2010 in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 PLANTATION St. at 10:30AM a period of visitation will be held from 9;30AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the VNA in care of Hospice 120 Thomas St. Worcester, Ma. 01608, or to the Veterans Shelter 69 Grove St Worcester, MA. 01605
