Julie R. (Lofstedt) Johnson, 84, of Worcester, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 in UMass Hospital. Her husband of sixty-one years, Henry A. Johnson, predeceased her in July 2009. Julie is survived by her daughter, Judy L. Snow and her husband Marc of Grafton; three sons, Mark H. Johnson of Mashpee, Reverend David A. Johnson and his wife Patricia of Dennis and Daniel E. Johnson and his wife Katherine of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania; a brother, Rodney Lofstedt of Shrewsbury; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Lofstedt and a sister, Martha Lofstedt. Born in Uxbridge, daughter of Raymond and Julia (Corneilson) Lofstedt, she graduated from Worcester High School of Commerce. Mrs. Johnson worked as an Intake Social Worker at Hahnemann Hospital Rehabilitation; where her warmth and kindness eased patients as she was the first contact they would have with the facility. She was a devoted member of Belmont Street Baptist Church and was actively involved "behind the scenes" at church functions and dinners. Julie was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and took great pride in the fact that she was afforded the opportunity to raise her family with love and devotion, until her children became the fine adults they are today. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 6, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 7 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment beside her loving husband will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Memorial Fund at Belmont Street Baptist Church, 25 Belmont Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
