James P. O'Rourke, 60, of Grafton a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, in Tokyo, Japan after being stricken ill, while on a business trip. James was born in Worcester; his parents were the late William M. and Bridget (Concannon) O'Rourke. James is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathryn E. (Barrell) O'Rourke; five devoted sons, Patrick J. O'Rourke and his wife Jennifer of Millbury, Brendan M. O'Rourke of Boston, Sean M. O'Rourke and his wife Melissa of Rutland, Bryan T. O'Rourke of Grafton and Liam F. O'Rourke and his wife Cori of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren, Tayah, Aidan, Ryan, Abigail, Ava, Collin and William F. O'Rourke; A brother, William G. O'Rourke of Dudley, sister Mary Opatka and her husband Frederick of Worcester and sister Bridget O'Brien and her husband Anthony of County Galway Ireland; many nieces, nephews, and friends. James was a dedicated employee of Bose Corporation in Framingham for more than 30 years, where he held the position, Director of Business Alignment. He traveled extensively and was on a scheduled trip to Tokyo when he became ill. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church and the Pope John Council Knights of Columbus. James above all cherished his family. He adored the time he spent with his wife, sons and grandchildren. They were his inspiration and life's joy. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His funeral will be held Monday, March 15th, from the Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, located at 370 Plantation St. Worcester, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will follow at St John's Cemetery, Worcester. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family for calling hours on, Sunday, March 14th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
