Anna M. (DeMalia) Kiley, 96, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Worcester passed away Wednesday March 3rd after an illness. She was the wife of David D. Kiley who passed away in 1987. Anna is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great, grand nieces and nephews and great, great, grand nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Andrew and Vincent DeMalia and three sisters, Theresa Orareo, Mary Benedetto and Rose Marchese predeceased her. Mrs. Kiley was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Biaggio and Clementina (Palermo) DeMalia. She lived in Worcester many years before moving to Shrewsbury in 1970. Ann graduated from North High School in 1930, the Normal School (later Worcester State College) in 1934 and Simmons College where she received a Masters Degree in Library Science. Anna dedicated her working years to the City of Worcester as a librarian for the Worcester Public Library at its old main location on Elm Street and at several satellite branches including Billings Square before retiring in 1975. She previously worked as a librarian and teacher in the Worcester School System. Mrs. Kiley was a member of the Mass Library Association. She was instrumental in setting up the library at the recreation center at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She was a founding member of the Venerini Guild, a member of St. Mary's Church in Shrewsbury and the Shrewsbury Woman's Club. Anna's funeral will be held Saturday, March 6th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St. Burial will follow next to her husband in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, March 5th from 4 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
