Francis L. Carrier, 76, of Worcester passed away Monday, February 15th 2010 with his family at his side. Francis was born in Worcester on July 31st 1933 one of thirteen children born to Charles and Ethel (Marengo) Carrier. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and earned his associates degree from Worcester Junior College. He chose to join the U.S. Marines and serve his country during the Korean Conflict. Francis returned home to work as a welder for various companies. In 1977, he founded F. Carrier Company, a sheet metal manufacturer. Francis served as its president and chief executive officer until 2000 when he retired. Francis is survived by his devoted wife and partner, Lucille M. (Nardella) Carrier; his three beloved children, Frank J. Carrier and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury, Susan L. Dorey of Worcester and John F Carrier of Ft Lauderdale, FL.; a grandson Daniel J. Dorey, Jr. two step grandchildren, Ashley Harmon and Julie Simone; two brothers, Kenneth Carrier of Worcester, Thomas Carrier and a sister Lucy Passarelli; many nieces, nephews and friends. Francis was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. The Lodge #168, Order Son's of Italy in America and its Bocce League. The Eastside Post 201, American Legion, the Post 3, Italian American VFW and the Men's Biscegliese Society. The funeral will be held Friday, February 19th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Thursday, February 18th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Members of the Worcester Lodge #168 Sons of Italy will meet at 6 pm in the funeral home to conduct their ritual.
