Ida (Pescara) Chilorio, 90, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully at home on February 3rd , with her family at her side. Ida was born in Worcester in 1919, the daughter of Donato and Beatrice (Camarra) Pescara, and lived many years in Worcester before moving to Shrewsbury. Her beloved husband of 54 years, Joseph J. Chilorio, passed away in 2000. She is survived by her devoted daughter and son, Cynthia A. Chilorio, and Joseph C. Chilorio, both with whom she lived. Ida also leaves her beloved grandson, Alexander J. Sarmiento, and his wife Amy; a great-grandson, Vincent Sarmiento; a sister, Fernanda D'Amato, in Italy; many nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Carmine, Americo, Guerino, and Corradino, and two sisters, Anna DiClemente, and Adele Biancone, all predeceased her. Ida was a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Church in Worcester, and Saint Mary of the Hills Parish in Boylston. Ida's life was one of devotion to her family. A stay-at-home mom, she was always there for her husband, children, and great-grandchildren. She loved tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, and sewing and mending clothes for her family. Her cooking sumptuous meals and desserts will long be remembered. Ida's funeral will be held Thursday February 11th from the Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, with mass at 11AM in Saint Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston. Entombment will be in Saint John's Mausoleum in Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30AM Thursday, February 11th at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all of Ida's physicians and the devoted and caring staff of VNA Home Hospice which made her last days as comfortable as possible in the familiar surroundings of her own home.
