Gloria Masoero

Gloria (Aresca) Masoero, 84 of Worcester, formerly of Pittsfield passed away Monday, February 1st 2010 with her family by her side. Gloria was born in New York City on New Years day, January 1st 1926, the daughter of Enrico and Fiorina (Valente) Aresca. She grew up in New York graduated from Manhattan & Central Needle Trade Schools and lived most of her life in Pittsfield before moving to Worcester in 1996. Gloria worked many years as a self employed seamstress. Specializing as a perfectionist, in custom made slip covers before retiring. She was previously a Textile technician for Deering-Milliken Woolens. She also worked in the Bureau of Standards Department of Macy's Stores. Her husband Peter D. Masoero passed away in 1979. She is survived by her two devoted children, Carol Masoero of Worcester, Jerry Masoero and his wife Charon of Attleboro; nieces, nephews and friends. Gloria was an active member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. She enjoyed watching Golf, Tennis and Figure Skating on Television. She enjoyed to Knit and crochet while still able, Reading Novels and Italian Cooking. She was also a great lover of animals, especially Cats and Dogs. Gloria's main concern throughout her life was the well being of the people around her, most especially her children who are eternally grateful and who will miss her dearly. Gloria had a strong and giving spirit that will be missed by everyone who knew her. Gloria's funeral will be held Friday, February 5th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, February 4th from 6 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home. Burial next to her husband Peter will be held Saturday in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 381 Plantation St Worcester, MA 01605.
