Antonetta (Castriotta) DiPierro, 90, of Parkland, Florida, formerly of Shrewsbury and Dennisport a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 30th 2010 in Florida with family by her side. Antonetta was born in Leominster, one of seven children born to Mateo and Letizia (Brigida) Castriotta, graduated from Leominster High and lived most of her life in Shrewsbury. Later in life after retirement, she and her Michael began to spend their winters in Florida and summers in Dennisport on the cape, before retiring fully to Florida in 1972. Antonetta is survived by her devoted husband and partner of 70 years, Michael J. DiPierro; three cherished children, Michael DiPierro and his wife Jean of Naples Florida, Paul DiPierro and his wife Rosemary of Millbury, Mariane Pavelic and her husband Peter of Coconut Creek, Florida, eight adored grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Castriotta of Jupiter Florida; many nieces, nephews and friends. Five of her siblings, Luigi and Anthony Castriotta, Nicholetta Lunetta, Dolores Arnone and Italia Castriotta all pre deceased her. Antonetta believed very much in helping people. She volunteered her time over the years driving orphans and foster children to medical appointments, and working as a volunteer "Candy Striper" for Holy Cross Hospital in Ft Lauderdale. She was a lifelong fan of Tennis, Golf and figure skating. A member of Allen Harbor Yacht Club in Harwich, Coral Ridge and Landings Boat clubs in Florida, Eastward Ho and Coral Ridge Country Clubs. Although she enjoyed her involvement in these areas, her family was her dedication and inspiration. She cherished her ability to watch her children, and grandchildren grow and prosper. She cherished the time spent with her family and truly enjoyed being in their company. They were her life and she will be greatly missed. Antonetta's funeral will be held Thursday, February 4th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. Worcester with a Celebration of Life Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Wednesday, February 3rd from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
