Joan Elizabeth Leoni

Joan Elizabeth (Thron) Leoni, 78, of Shrewsbury, MA passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, January 30, 2010 surrounded by her children. Joan is survived by two sons, Richard F. Leoni, Jr. of Uxbridge and Clifford W. Leoni and his wife Sandra of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Judith Elizabeth Surabian and her husband Gary Philip of Wake Forest, NC; a brother Frank " Jimmy" Thron of NJ; a sister, Yvonne "Bonnie" Diehl of PA; five grandchildren, Richard F. Leoni III, Nicholas M. Leoni, Anthony C. Leoni, Sara N. Surabian and Danielle E. Surabian; three great grandchildren, Corey M. Leoni, Brooke E. Leoni and Alexis M. Leoni and had many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by a grandson, Michael V. Leoni and by a brother, Edward W. Thron. Joan was born in Margate, New Jersey the daughter of Francis James Thron and Betty (Dalby) Thron. Joan proudly served her nation in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict where she was an aerial photographer. Joan was caring and had a heart of gold which she shared lovingly with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and all who came to know her. Joan was blessed with the gift of great artistic ability and thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the beach and playing cards and bingo with her family and friends. Funeral services will be held privately at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
