Julia M. (Genatossio) Zona, 94, of Worcester passed away Saturday, January 23th 2010 in the Knollwood Extended care facility with her family by her side. Julia's husband Orlando Zona passed away July 21st 2004. She is survived by her devoted family, Carlo P. Zona with who she lived, Peter Zona and his wife Tanna of Grafton and Marie A. Roy and her husband Louis of Worcester; two brothers, Frank Genatossio of Worcester and Louis Genatossio of Shrewsbury; a sister, Antoinette Genatossio of Worcester; four grandchildren, Michael Roy and his wife Rachel, Julianne Pulsifer and her husband Scott, Peter Roy and Peter Zona; two great grandchildren, Emma and Anthony Pulsifer; many nieces and nephews. Five brothers, Pantaleo, Phillip, Domenic, Lawrence and Anthony Genatossio and three sisters, Anna Toloczko, Lucy Morrissey and Mary Genatossio all pre deceased her. She was born in Worcester a daughter of Carlo and Caroline (Pasquale) Genatossio and has lived her all her life. Julia worked an inspector for the Allegro Microsystems, previously Sprague Electric. She also worked for the family business Genatossio Oil as a bookkeeper. Julia was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, She enjoyed puzzle books, cooking and shopping with her sisters when Downtown Worcester was thriving. Julia's funeral will be held Tuesday, January 26th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held Tuesday January 26th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family of Julia Zona would like to thank the Staff, Nurses and Doctors at Knollwood Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care they gave to Julia.
