William J. Lukas, 66, of Millbury passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009in UMass Hospital. William is survived by three brothers, Richard Lukas of Grafton, Ronald Lukasevicz of Rutland and Joseph Lukas and his wife Michelle, with whom he shared a home; a sister, Pauline Savage and her husband Vito of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. William was born in Worcester, son of Joseph A. and Florence A. (Girardin) Lukas. He graduated from Grafton High School and served his nation proudly in the United States Marine Corps, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Bill was a mental health worker for Worcester State Hospital for twenty-seven years, before retiring in 2008. He enjoyed horse racing and worked as a race horse trainer. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, The Massachusetts Trotting Association and The American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees. Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning, January 5, from 10:30 a.m. until 12 Noon in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a funeral service at 12 Noon in the funeral home.
