Robert W. "Warren" McNamara, 77, formerly of Commonwealth Ave. died unexpectedly on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at home. His wife of 47 years Catherine M. (Paparella) McNamara died February 2, 2008. Robert is survived by his loving family;three sons, Mark J. McNamara and his wife Pamela of Dracut, Stephen R. McNamara of Waltham, David J. McNamara and his wife Pamela of Cherry Valley, his daughter Maribeth Costello and her husband Michael of Medway. Ten grandchildren; Jonathan, Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Patrick, Nathan, Stephen, Lauren, Ian, Robert, and Rachel. Robert also leaves three brothers; John "Russell" McNamara, of Millbury, Philip McNamara of Worcester, Thomas McNamara and his wife Rosanna of Millbury, and a sister Patricia McNamara of Worcester, many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three sisters, Agnes Tivnan, Eleanor Kuzmickas, Mary McNamara, and a brother Cornelius McNamara. He was born in Millville,Ma. son of the late John and Elizabeth (Quinn) McNamara and came to Worcester at an early age. He was a graduate of St. Peters High School. Warren worked as a Machinist at the Norton Company for 30 years before he retired. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War serving in Germany. Robert was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, The Green Hill Golf Club, The Greendale Retired Men's Club, and a former member of the Clearview Country Club where he was a two time club champion in the Scratch Division. He "shot his age" many times, and at the age of 65 had his career best round of 60. Among his interests' he loved the game of Golf, and enjoyed being outdoors and appreciating nature, but his most precious times were those spent with his family especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Robert's funeral will be held Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME& CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10: 00AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. 1290 Grafton St. Calling hours will be held from 3-6 PM on Sunday Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery. To celebrate his love of nature flowers may be sent.
