Catherine A. Heckman, 41 years old, passed away peacefully Thursday December 17th surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Cathy was born July 15th 1968 in Lowell one of eleven children born to the late Romeo and Jeannette R. (Joncas) Hebert. She grew up in Westborough, graduated from Westborough High School and had lived in Worcester for many years. She is survived by her devoted husband of fourteen years, Michael J. Heckman; a cherished son, Houston Austin Heckman; nine brothers and sisters, Ruth and Charles Hurlburt, of Westborough; Raymond and Ilene Hebert, of Haverhill; Joseph and Mary Jane Hebert, of New Hampshire; Dennis and Doreen Hebert, of Lowell, Janet Hebert and Ken Blydenburgh, of South Hampton, NY; Norman and Nancy Hebert, of North Chelmsford; Armand and Cathy Hebert, of Lowell; Allison and David John, of Auburn; Edward and Lisa Hebert, of Nashua NH; and a brother Kenny Hebert predeceased, also many loved nieces, nephews and friends. Cathy was an amateur roller skater in the 70's and 80's who competed in tournaments through out the Northeast and the Midwest. Cathy worked as an administrative assistance for G.M. Bergeron Custom Home Builders. Cathy was a devoted wife and mother who cherished her husband and son. Cathy's upbeat and positive attitude was contagious and remained even in her final days. She took special pride in caring for her son Houston who was her inspiration and shining light. Nothing made her happier than being with Michael and Houston. Cathy loved to watch Houston play hockey, her smile would light up the skating rink. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family 4:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday December 27th in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A prayer service will be held at 6:00pm in the funeral home.
