Lily Samara-Attella

Lily (Shweiri) Samara, Attella, 88, of West Yarmouth formerly of Shrewsbury passed away Monday, December 7th 2009 in her home surrounded by family. Lily was born September 7th, 1921 the daughter of George and Marie (Akle) Shweiri. Lily immigrated from Lebanon with her parents arriving in the United States in 1924. She grew up in California, and graduated from a Los Angeles business school. She lived for many years in Shrewsbury before moving to West Yarmouth. Lily's second husband, Arthur Attella passed away in 2001. Her first husband, Albert Samara passed away in 1974. She is survived by her family, Tim Samara, his wife Eileen and their children, Mark & Terese of Holden; Thad Samara and his children, Joshua and Benjamin of Shrewsbury; Thea Samara, and her children, Chad, Troy and Noah of West Yarmouth; a brother, Edward Shweiri in California; a step son David Attella; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A son Ty Samara pre deceased her. Lily was a member of St George Orthodox Cathedral, a former member of its women's guild and at one time an active volunteer to many church functions. Lily was devoted to family; she enjoyed cooking for them and being around and within their company. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 11th at 10:00 AM in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family Thursday, December 10th from 5 pm to 8 pm and 9:30 to 10:00 AM Friday December 11th in the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St George Orthodox Cathedral Memorial Fund, 30 Anna St Worcester, 01604.
