Carl F. Landry, 72, of Jefferson, formerly of Worcester, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 1, 2009. His wife I. Frances (Labunski) died in 1998. Carl is survived by his loving family; a son Philip M. Landry, two daughters, Michelle A. Quercio and her husband Dante, Jennifer J. Belmore and her husband Christopher, a long time companion Claire Weiss, seven grandchildren; Abigail, Margaret, Benjamin, Nicholas, Matthew, Seamus and Lilliana. Also surviving Carl are his brother Richard Landry and his wife Dorothy, sisters; Barbara Wilson and her husband William, Dorothy Trottier and her husband Donald, Alice "Judy" Daniels, and Joan Powlics and her husband Butch,a brother and sister in law Dorothy and Donald Coffin, many nephews and nieces. A son Paul Landry died in 1983, and a sister Lorraine Williams also predeceased him. Carl was born in Grafton and lived in Worcester most of his life before moving to Jefferson. He was the son of the late Frederick and Leora (Noble) Landry. He received his certification in Engineering from WPI. Carl was an Army Veteran.After returning from the service Carl served as a Reservist for the Army until 1962. Carl was the Head Of Operations in the Forge Department of the Wyman Gordan Company for many years before he retired. Carl was a former member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and was a member of the Retired Greendale Men's Club, The Alhambra Council Knights Of Columbus, and the Worcester Green Hill Golf Club. Among his many interests were golfing, traveling, fishing,and cheering on the Red Sox. He was a talented woodworker, and orchid grower. But most of all being with his family and grandchildren were his most precious times. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Carl's funeral will be held Saturday, December 5, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in St Joan Of Arc Church 570 Lincoln St. Calling hours in the funeral home are from 4-7 PM on Friday.
