Eli R. Haddad, 79, of Worcester formerly of Dillon St passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, November 26th 2009. Eli was born in Worcester on November 27th 1929, a son of Lebanese immigrants Frank and Angelina (Haddad) Haddad. He graduated from Worcester Public Schools, and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Eli then earned his degree in teaching from Worcester State College and has lived here all his life. Eli is survived by his two children, Russell E. Haddad and his wife Celeste of Spencer, Lisa A. Katz and her husband Eric of North Grafton; a sister, Sadie Beshara of Lowell; two cherished granddaughters, Amanda and Angelina; his former wife, Lorraine (Gagnon) Haddad; many nieces, nephews and friends. Two brothers, William and Dahar Haddad and two sisters, Nazley Perrone and Norma Haddad all pre deceased him. Eli owned and operated Haddad Appliance Repair for more than 20 years before retiring. He was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral. A former Sunday school superintendant, men's club member and at onetime actively involved in numerous church committees and functions. Eli's funeral will be held Tuesday, December 1st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. with a service at 10:00 a.m. in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, November 30th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
