Michael J. Russo, 88, of Worcester, passed away Thursday, November 12th 2009 in his home surrounded by his family. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Lucy A. (Curci) Russo; two devoted daughters, Lucretia Bisceglia, and Marie Hendrickx and her husband, Brian, all of Worcester; a son Marino Russo and his wife, Melanie, in Australia; a brother, Joseph Russo in Shrewsbury; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild; many nieces, nephews and friends. A brother, Frank Russo and two sisters, Louise Gianfriddo and Marie Prince predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Mariano and Marietta (Truglio) Russo and has lived here all his life. Michael worked for many years as a dock manager for Holmes Transportation in Framingham. He previously worked for Graton & Knight Company. Michael was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and Teamsters Union, Local 170. After retiring, Michael cared for the Joseph Swartz Little League Field in Worcester and had his own parking spot designated for him. Michael was a quiet, loving man who enjoyed the simple things in life, especially reading, listening to music, tending his garden and enjoying his family and friends. The funeral for Michael will be held Tuesday, November 17th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, November 16th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the funeral home.
