Born February 2 1910 Ruth Forman Bang died early November 3 2009, just three months before her hundredth Ground Hog Day. From Brooklyn New York, she is predeceased by her brothers Charles and Sidney Forman, and her husband Frank Bang. Her sister Fay Forman Klauber lives in Seminole Florida. She leaves her children Francesca Bang Gleich, Peter and Paul Bang along with five grandchildren. Ruth and her brothers and sister were all sent to college by their Russian immigrant parents. She graduated New York University and continued her education in Vienna Austria but that was interrupted by the advent of World War II. An avid New Yorker, Ruth met Frank Bang when they both worked in the depression era Welfare Department of New York City. She never compromised her support of the under privileged and those who are the victims of prejudice and discrimination. She enjoyed to read Marcel Proust and other French literature In French and to sing along to recordings of Kurt Weil songs in German. A loving parent and homemaker Ruth was a resident of both Grandview New York and Shelter Island New York. Her final years were spent at Notre Dame Du Lac home in Worcester Ma. where she was a happy member of a loving care community. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Sunday November 8, 2009 in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. from 10 AM to 12 Noon.
