Dita "Dee" (Theodore) Hannam, 91, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, October 28th surrounded by her family. Dita was born August 17th 1918, in Worcester the daughter of Christopher and Persephone (Karaku) Theodore. She was married the late husband Douglas J. Hannam, Sr. who passed away in 1968. Dita is survived by her devoted children, Maureen F. Trainor and her husband Daniel of Bradford, Ma, Susan Stapinski and her husband Paul of Worcester, Margaret Ross of Nova Scotia, Douglas J. Hannam, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Worcester, and Kevin Hannam with whom she lived; a son in law James Doyle of Worcester; two sisters, Maragarita Kosanovich of Aliquippa, PA; and Louise Batrich of Chicago; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her husband Douglas, Dita was pre deceased by a daughter, Pauline Doyle and a sister Dora Martin. Dita worked as a Nurse Assistant for the City of Worcester at City Hospital for more than 31 years before retiring when the hospital closed. Dita was a simple gentle woman, who cherished her family, the time she spent with them and helping the people she attended to at City Hospital. She also enjoyed being an enthusiastic Celtic and Red Sox fan. She had a special love for her best friend and cat "Kitty." The funeral will be held Saturday, October 31st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 am in the Cathedral of St Paul, 15 Chatham St. Burial will follow in St John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, October 30th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
