Mary R. (Giorgio) Peters, 85, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, October 7th 2009, surrounded by her family. Mary was the devoted wife of 57 years to Bill "Ex Ump" Peters who predeceased her in 2004. She is survived by her three children, James and his wife Debra, Cathy Arcure and her husband James, all of Worcester and William and his wife Catherine of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren that she adored, Joseph and his wife Melissa, Melissa and fiancé Eddie Gonzalez, Danielle and fiancé Michael O'Rourke, Michael Peters, and Christina Arcure; three cherished great grandchildren, Liza, Tyler, and Jason; two sisters, Anna Villatico and Grace Donatelli; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Five brothers Pete, James, Jerry, Joseph and Steven Giorgio, and a sister, Antoinette Giorgio all predeceased her. Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of Frank and Rose (Tarmarro) Giorgio. Along with her husband they raised their three children, watched them get married and have children of their own. She adored her grandchildren; they were her inspiration and life, just being with her family made her truly happy. Mary worked over ten years for High G. Manufacturing Company before retiring. She previously worked for Bond Bread and U.S. Steel North works. She was a member of the Grafton Street Mothers Club, and volunteered at the Library. She was a member of St George Orthodox Cathedral. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 12th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a service at 10:00 a.m. in St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial next to her husband will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, October 11th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. A trisagion service will be celebrated during calling hours.
