Maureen D. (Hassett) Wright, 54, of Worcester formerly of Orange, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2009, surrounded by family, after a courageous 11 year battle with breast cancer. Maureen was born on April 10th 1955, in Worcester, a daughter of the late John Hassett and Elizabeth (Savage) Dmochowski who lives in Worcester. She graduated from Burncoat High School class of 1973, and earned her associates degree in Human Services from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1992. She lived more than 30 years in Orange before moving back to Worcester recently. Maureen is survived by her two children, Robert E. Wronski, Jr. of North Hampton and Michelle D. Wright and her companion Jorge Bannister with whom she lived; her mother, Elizabeth (Savage) Dmochowski of Worcester; her eight brothers and sisters, Kathaleen Curran of Holland, John Hassett of Kingwood, Texas, Eileen Hassett, Colleen Desrosier and Darlene Johnson all of Worcester, Pauline Hassett of Boston, Timothy Hassett of Largo, Florida, and Richard Dmochowski of Rutland; a cherished grandson, Connor Wronski; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A granddaughter Pamela Wronski pre deceased her. Maureen worked all her life in various positions to care for her family. The last six years until her death, she worked for the State of Massachusetts as a mental health counselor at the Templeton Developmental Center. She also enjoyed working for the Baldwinville Pizza barn. Maureen loved the outdoors and being outdoors. She enjoyed camping, hiking in the Quabbin Reservoir Area, outdoor concerts and most especially spending time with her family. She was a member of the Athol YMCA. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Friday October 9th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A prayer service in the funeral home will be held at 6 p.m. Burial in Hope Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
