Janine Naissant

Janine Naissant, 69, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away September 30th 2009 surrounded by her family after a valiant fight with cancer. Janine was born February 26th 1940 in Cavaillon, Haiti, a daughter of the late Medehum and Marie Lunite (Robuste) Naissant. She met and married her husband, Jean Albert Hodelin who passed away in 1993. Janine was educated in Haiti, and lived there to raise her children until moving to Worcester in 2000. Janine leaves to mourn her passing, five children, Bernato Lima, Marie Josee Lima, Philippe Hodelin, Carline Naissant and Lorna Watson with whom she lived; she also is mourned by two stepchildren, Lucien and Etienne Hodelin; eight brothers, Hogart Naissant, Nolies Maissant, Felix Naissant and Bernier Naissant, Clenord Naissant, Dieunel Naissant, Ernest Naissant and Henry Naissant; her only sister, Vita Naissant; thirteen cherished grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of dear friends. Janine was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral; she devoted herself to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed Cooking and baking for her family, making cakes and sewing. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. The funeral will be held Saturday, October 10th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester with a mass at 12 noon in Notre Dame/Sacred Heart Church, 61 Marcy Street Southbridge. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 am to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the Mass.
