Josephine "Josie" (Abdelmaseh) Silvia, 91, of Worcester, formerly of Pilgrim Ave., passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 in Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Oliver Silvia. Josie is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Rosann Query and her husband George of Worcester, Anthony D'Allessandro of Mashpee, and Alan D'Allessandro and his wife Denise of Worcester, who grew up with Josie. She was predeceased by a brother and five sisters, W.P. Edward Abdelmaseh, Louise Abdelmaseh, Mary Abdelmaseh, Martha Abdelmaseh, Nancy Blodgett, and Virginia D'Allessandro. She was born in Worcester, daughter of George and Eva (Saad) Abdelmaseh, and has lived here all her life. Josie worked for many years as a banquet waitress at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton, before retiring in 1998. She had previously worked at Capital Footwear, Chez Ami and Bronzo's restaurants. She was a member of Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, the church women's club and the VIP's of Saint George Association. The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 7, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester with a Service at 11 a.m. in SAINT GEORGE ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL, 30 Anna Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home immediately prior to the service in the Cathedral from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., with a Trisagion Service at 10 a.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Saint George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester, Ma 01604.
