Peter J. Pecorelli, 89, of Worcester, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 2, 2009, after an illness. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Claire R. (Jaston) Pecorelli; a daughter, Patricia A. George and her husband Philip J. George of Worcester; a son, Peter F. Pecorelli and his wife Marilee W. Pecorelli of Leominster; a brother, Patsy J. Pecorelli and his wife Marie of Shrewsbury; nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters, Matteo and Michael Pecorelli, Phyllis Loconto, Mary Montecalvo, and Victoria Ricci. Peter was born in Worcester, son of Natale and Caterina (Bodinizzo) Pecorelli and lived here all his life. Peter worked for Worcester Housing Authority for nearly thirty years, retiring as a supervisor in 1983. He had previously worked in the textile industry with Bell Company in Worcester. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Parish and the Retired State, County, and Municipal Employees Association. In retirement Peter and Claire enjoyed travelling and spending the Winter Season in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Peter's funeral will be held Tuesday, October 6, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, immediately prior to departing for church.
