Rita A. (Malo) Lapriore, 79, of Worcester, passed away in the UMass Memorial Healthcare on Thursday, October 1, 2009. Her husband, Anthony "Pooch" Lapriore died in 1998. She is survived by her son, Joseph Lapriore and his wife Cheryl of Spencer, two daughters, Nancy Hopkins and her husband Richard of Worcester and Donna Potenti of Worcester; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A daughter Linda Lapriore died in 1991; a grandson Richard Hopkins in1990; a brother Francis Malo and a son-in-law Robert Pontenti all predecease her. At a young age, she was an avid swimmer and lifeguard. She was a devoted Red Sox fan and enjoyed Foxwoods and bingo. Rita was well known as "Nana Rita" to everyone. She worked at Worcester Ruling and Binding and retired from Shawmut Bank. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3rd at 10:30a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the service.
