Joseph A. Czarnecki, 89, of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 29th 2009 with his family by his side in his home at the Methuen Village Assisted Living Facility. Joseph was born, May 28th 1920 in Clinton; his parents were the late Joseph and Antoinette (Bednarcyzk) Czarnecki. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1938. Soon after he met and married his late wife of 60 years, Irene J. (Dombrowski) Czarnecki who passed away in 2001. Together they moved to Shrewsbury more than 68 years ago where they lived and raised their family. Joe worked in many fields of employment throughout the years, but the one source of income he dearly loved was instructing people in the art of line dancing during his retirement. Joseph is survived and dearly loved by his three children, Robert M. (Marty) Czarnecki and his wife, Judith (Reed) of Concord, California, Nancy A. and her husband Richard Giangrande of Auburn, and Janet M. Goldberg wife of the late Steven Goldberg of Methuen; a sister, Frances Seymour of Lancaster; seven cherished grandchildren, Karen and her husband Thomas Godek, Adam Goldberg, Regan, Jason and Joshua Giangrande, Matthew Czarnecki, Robyn and husband Eric Gardenhire; Five great grandchildren, Mattingly and Shane Godek, Ethan and Chase Gardenhire, and Kayne Barbieri; many nieces, nephews and extended family including Joyce and George Roy of Shrewsbury. A son Joseph Czarnecki passed away in 1944. A sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Novick also pre deceased him. Joe was a member of St. Anne Church. He was a member and active instructor in line dancing at the Shrewsbury and Holden Senior Centers. Joe's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses and caregivers at the Methuen Village Assisted Living Facility, Beacon Hospice, All Care VNA and Right At Home Health Care. The funeral for Joseph will be held Friday, October 2nd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, 130 Boston Turnpike Shrewsbury. Burial next to his dear departed wife will follow in St. John Cemetery, Clinton. A period of visitation will be held Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.
