Catherine M DeCharles

Catherine M. "Katie" (Looney) DeCharles, 50, of Harwichport formerly of Worcester died unexpectedly Monday September 21, 2009 at home. "Katie" is survived by her loving family; her husband of 28 years Thomas A.DeCharles, her mother Joan S. (Sullivan) Looney of Worcester, two daughters. Jacqueline M. DeCharles at home, and Kelly A DeCharles of Windsor New Hampshire, 2 brothers Thomas J. Looney and his wife Stephanie of Leicester, John B. Looney and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury, and a sister Patricia A. Looney of Cherry Valley. Catherine also leaves aunts, uncles, 7 nieces and a nephew, and many cousins. Catherine was born in Worcester daughter of the late Thomas B. Looney, and lived here most of her life before moving to Harwichport four years ago. She was a graduate of Holy Name High School, and received her Nursing degree from Becker Community College. Catherine was a Registered Nurse at St. Vincent Hospital for many years before moving to Cape Cod. At the Cape she owned and operated the LiL' Caboose Ice Cream Shoppe in South Yarmouth and was still working up until her passing. She attended St. Johns Church while living here. "Katie" enjoyed cooking, baking, and was always there helping people whenever she could. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Catherine's funeral will be held Saturday September 26, 2009 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30AM in St. Johns Church 40 Temple St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be from 5-8PM on Friday. On Saturday October 3rd a Memorial Service will be held in the Christ Church Episcopal at 3pm. 671 Route 28 In Harwichport, and inurnment will take place at Wychmere Harbor.
