Antonio J. Oliveri, 81, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 10th, 2009 at UMass Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Antonio is survived by his family, including his loving wife Frances B. (Betti) Oliveri with whom he would have shared fifty-nine years of marriage later this month; their children, son, Nicholas J. Olivieri and his wife Deborah of Tampa, Florida and their children, Nicoletta, Matthew and Michael; daughter, Margery A. Oliveri of Shrewsbury and her children, Anthony and Cristina Healy; and a son, Anthony J. Olivieri and his wife Michelle of Worcester and their children, Elizabeth, Sara and Jennifer; brother, Peter Olivieri of Worcester; three sisters, Concetta Gibbs of Sarasota, Florida, Marie Ingoglia of Laguna Wood, California and Marguerite Elliott of Sun City, Arizona; many nieces and nephews. Antonio was pre-deceased by two brothers, John and Gasper Olivieri. Born in Worcester, the son of Nicola and Margaret (Bucciaglia) Oliveri, he attended Worcester public schools, before meeting the true love of his life and moving to Shrewsbury to raise their family. Mr. Olivieri worked for Continental Baking for many years before retiring in 1994. He was a member of Saint Anne's Church in Shrewsbury and enjoyed playing bocce and was a member of The Italian-American Veterans Post 3 in Worcester. He loved to keep active by swimming and playing golf and enjoyed the music of Frank Sinatra. He shared a loving bond with his wife Frances, children, and grandchildren and will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends as a man who lived his life in great kindness and compassion. The funeral for Mr. Oliveri will be held Monday, September 14, 2009 at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass held at 10 a.m in Saint Anne's Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road (route 9), Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 4 p.m until 7 p.m in the funeral home.
