Eleanor (Janasek) Mendelsohn, 94, formerly of Middlesex Ave passed away Friday, July 17th 2009 in the Christopher House. Eleanor was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 10, 1915, the daughter of Stanley and Lena (Wivinis) Janasek, worked many years in the real-estate tax department for the LaSalle Bank, previously Talman Bank before retiring. She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Gorman of Downers Grove, Illinois; a son in law, Paul Lukas of Worcester; three adored grandchildren, John Gorman, Dr. Matthew Gorman and Stacey Simoncini; a brother, Stanley Janasek, Jr.; many nieces and nephews. A daughter, Charlene Lukas, a son Ronald Koncel, and a sister, Dolores Sarna all pre deceased her. Eleanor's interests included gardening, especially African violets, baking, cooking and she loved to square dance. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held Tuesday, July 21st from 10 to 11 am prior to the service.
